The 2022 Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Ford Theater inside Bliss Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. This year’s NEO Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition will be open to view on January 7 and run through January 28th

VCS Students of the Week 12/13- 17

Our 3-5th grade Student of the Week is Lydia Soto. Her teacher wrote I am nominating Lydia because she is always pleasant and polite. She helps out students in need.

Our 6-8th grade Student of the Week is Janiya Valentin. Her teacher wrote: Janiya has shown outstanding growth in our classroom. Her work ethic has been impressing her teachers. She is making us proud.

Our High School Student of the Week is Taylor Adams. Her teachers wrote, Taylor is very talented in Art. She is creative with her designs and ideas. Taylor works hard and strives to do her best in all her classes.

Our High School Student of the Week is Katie Murray, grade 12.

Katie Murray has been a student at VCS since Kindergarten. She earned a letter in Cheer, Soccer, Track, and Swim Team. She served for 4 years on Student Council and was elected President this year. She is the Senior Class Chaplain and also a member of the National Honor Society. Katie also participated in the VCS Eagle Theater, Worship Team, Gospel Choir, and VCS News.

Her teachers wrote, Katie is a friendly and godly young lady. She works hard in my class and works hard to lead student council. She is respectful and is perseverant, despite obstacles that come her way.

Hello VCS Families,

Please see the updated calendar in the button below. We added early dismissal and asynchronous learning days. On December 8th, students will be dismissed at 1:30 pm. The other dates are noted below. 

Early Dismissal– Students are dismissed at 1:30 pm on the following dates.

December 8th

January 28th

April 1st                                               

May 11th

Asynchronous Learning Days– These days are independent learning days for students. They count as school days, but students will learn from home.

Our 3rd-5th Grade Student of the Week is Macai Gibbs. His teacher wrote: Macai is a fantastic student. He is always doing what he can to show the love of Christ. He is an amazing leader in and out of the classroom.

Our 6-8th Grade Student of the Week is Dominick Posterli. His teacher wrote: Dominick is a well-mannered individual. He is hard working and shows pride in his work

Our High School Student of the Week is Alex Green.

His teachers wrote, Alex is very kind and hardworking.  This is the first year I  have has Alex as a student, and I have enjoyed him in my class.  He asks for help when he needs it and works hard on every assignment to do his best.  

VCS Music Fall Festival

The Fall Festival recorder and band concert will showcase 125 students from grades 4-12. They have all been working very hard and are excited to perform all they have learned so far this year with a special concert for their families!

The Fall Festival is scheduled for Wednesday, November 17th at 7:00 pm in the Central Campus School Gym.

· Doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets for various raffle prizes will be sold during this time until start of concert. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 – CASH ONLY. Proceeds to benefit the instrumental music program.

· Students should arrive no later than 6:45 pm.

· Concert starts at 7:00 pm. Raffle drawings will be held throughout, hang onto your tickets!

Reminder that attendance for all scheduled performances is mandatory and accounts for 25% of the participation grade.

Thank you for all the positivity and support of our growing band program!

The 3-5th grade student of the week is Kamille Tucker. Her teacher wrote Kamille is kind to her classmates. She also follows all classroom rules and expectations and is respectful to her teachers.

The 6-8th grade student of the week is Nasri Hernandez. His teacher wrote, “Nasri goes above expectations in all he does. He takes the time to make sure that his work is excellent.”

Her teachers wrote:

I nominated Alice to be the Student of the Week because she stands out among her peers. She comes into my room with enthusiasm for learning and performs above and beyond with her assigned work. She is
respectful and conscientious.

Alice has been an amazing student. She is always going above and beyond our expectations. She brings a positive attitude into the classroom every day.

She is kind to her fellow classmates, and helpful to her teacher. Her participation in Bible class is excellent, and she always gives insightful comments.

Her teacher wrote: Adianez has been a model student in our classroom. She is patient and hardworking. Her work truly showsthis.

Our HS Student of the Week is Pendleton Evans. His teachers wrote: Pendleton has shown exemplary leadership within class. He constantly is ready to help fellow classmates and is full of excellent ideas for a variety of class activities. His kindness, devotion, and leadership shows every day in class. He is an outstanding individual to have here at VCS.
